Okay, I know it's been three days since I posted, but.....
We spent two days trying to get a problem with the kitchen slide-out worked out since it was obviously out of adjustment. We spent our time in Jay, OK with the slide-out scoped most of the way out but not totally. DeWayne spent both days crawling around under the RV trying to adjust as I spent my time manning the switch inside to slide the thing in or out depending on what he was doing. We communicated via the cell phones. DeWayne finally discovered a bolt that had sheared off, so he fixed it the best he could and we were able to get it to slide all the way in this morning before it promptly sheared off again. But we were able to load up, unhook and drive 13 miles to Grove and turn the problem over to the capable folks at DJ's RV repair, who had us fixed and back on the road in a couple of hours. Here's the unruly slide that caused us so much grief:
Looks innocent enough, doesn't it? NOT!!!!
So after a rough couple of days in an RV park that left a lot to be desired, we were once again happy campers and "breezin" down the road. I must say that the scenery was great, so I managed a few pictures from the truck.
And I had to sneak a shot of my favorite scenery of all:
The trip went very well and since we didn't have anything in the house to eat, we started looking for a good place to pull off and get what provisions we absolutely had to have for the night. Well, we lucked out and found this:
Ya can't top that....convenience store, gas, Subway and McDonalds...all in one building. Eureka!
And just 10 more miles and we drove into Meramec Valley Resort:
And what a nice place it is! It was getting dark fast, but I noticed a pool, a teen center, a store and what was called the "snack shack" whatever that is.
I didn't spot the laundy, but I'll find it in the morning so I can get a couple of loads done before we leave tomorrow. We're going to take our time since we are only going 174 miles and will be trying another first for us....staying a night in Wal Mart parking lot. I'm hoping the weather in that area doesn't live up to the forecast, which is for thunderstorms, possible hail and high winds.
For now, we're both full of McDonald's salad and chicken nuggets. The slide worked perfectly, we're all hooked up, dvd playing on the TV and we're on our computers. Once again, happy campers. So until tomorrow, I'll leave you with a quote from Maxine:
"A picture is worth a thousand words, but it uses up three thousand times the memory".
No puppy pic today. I want to post a picture of Buster, our first Schnauzer and our little buddy, may he rest in peace. We miss you, Buster!
What a handsome boy you were!
Well, that's all folks. Tune in tomorrow for another episode of "The Breeze".....:)
Joy,
