We got up early yesterday, ready to make our much anticipated trip to south Lake Tahoe. The weather was beautiful and we only had about a hundred miles to drive, so off we went, heading west.
The drive was beautiful and the fall colors were really popping! Here is a sample of what we saw on the way.
Before we knew it, we were catching glimpses of the lake.
Wow, it was soooooo pretty up there! More pictures as we drove along:
We drove all the way through town and were blown away at the many restaurants, hotels and casinos. We spotted a Mexican Food restaurant downtown and opted to have lunch there. We weren’t disappointed, the food was great! There was just too much of it…for both of us! So we left the restaurant this time with TWO to-go boxes instead of one.
From there, we drove to the Lakeside Casino to try our luck again. I played slots while DeWayne went for his walk, then we both played blackjack for a while. We left the casino with $80 more than we went in with, so we did good!
It was getting cloudy and and late in the afternoon, so we drove around to find a place that allowed access to the lake. It didn’t take long.
Walking down to the shoreline, we immediately noticed this adorable little dog running up and down the shore, trying to catch the ducks that swam just out of his reach. He was a hoot to watch. What a cutie! Of course, he had to stop long enough to bark at DeWayne.
And here are the objects of his ferocious attention:
The water was crystal clear:
Oh, and here’s “Speedy Gonzales” streaking by again.
And more of the lake:
DeWayne got a great picture of the geese that were flying over!
Yep, there’s “Speedy” again, wearing out the shoreline.
We strolled back to the truck and started our trip home. We found a great place to pull over and get a few more shots.
And another pull-over area on down the road:
And yet another pull-off.
After this, I had to put the camera away since it was just getting too dark to take pictures. The drive home was a pleasant one and we discussed whether or not we want to squeeze in another outing to the north side of the lake before we leave the area. The jury is still out, but if we decide to make another trip, I’ll be blogging about it.
We are six days away from leaving Fallon and making the 10 day trip home. Once again, we’re leaving just as the weather is getting a little too cool for our tastes. So we’re checking our to-do lists and getting things in order for the trip. If everything goes as planned, we should be pulling in to OKC the 3rd or 4th of November, ready to catch up with our friends and family for a while.
This is my third post to the blog today, so I’m ready to fold it up and put it away for the day. Stay tuned for the next episode of “The Breeze” and in the meantime…..
HAPPY TRAILS!!!
